The tab grouping feature is already available on Chrome desktop, hence it is obvious that the feature would be rolled out to other devices. The grid view feature has been present on iOS devices for quite some time now. It is really easy to group tabs and enable or disable the grid layout. If you are one of those tab hoarders who has to have multiple tabs open to browse comfortably, then this might help you handle all of your tabs. Users can just drag and drop tabs to group them. The previous layout displayed tabs in stacks and the new layout displays them in a simple grid. On Google Chrome in Android devices, the grid layout is enabled by default. If you do not see the new feature immediately, then you might want to update the browser first. Users will be able to see six tabs at once, and as mentioned, with a simple drag and drop action, users will be able to group them. Although, the tab grouping feature does not have the option to name and designate colors to the groups. The new tab option is indicated by a plus sign and the close tab option is indicated by a cross sign as usual. Be careful not to close the group of tabs by clicking on the close tabs sign.
How to disable the feature?
The grid layout and tab grouping is not everyone’s cup of tea. It might be too complex for some people. Thankfully, the feature can be disabled in just a few steps.
