Restart Your Phone

Restarting your phone can fix a lot of issues for you. Giving your phone a proper restart makes sure that all the processes start correctly. So all you have to do is just press and hold the power button and then tap on Restart.  If that doesn’t work for you, just press and hold the power button until the device shuts down. Then you can easily turn it back on.  

Make Sure You Have Free Internal Storage 

Most of the time, the system UI issues are caused by insufficient storage on your smartphone. Make sure you have enough free space on your smartphone. Additionally, you can also use an SD card if you want to expand the storage. 

Uninstall Google App Updates

Uninstalling the updates from the Google app seem to fix this issue for a lot of users and you can do it as well: Step 1: Go to the Settings. Step 2: Navigate and click on Apps.  Step 3: Tap on Google.  Step 4: Now tap on the three-dots icon at the top-right and select ‘Uninstall updates’.  That’s it!

Check for Updates  

The majority of the Android smartphones run on their own designed UI based on the brand they are manufactured by. That is why it is very important that you keep your Android smartphone updated. You can simply check for software updates from the Settings. If there is an update available, I suggest that you install it immediately.  

Clear Cache for System UI 

Clearing the cache for important system apps every now and then is a good thing and you should also do it. Here is how: Step 1: Go to Settings.  Step 2: Tap on Apps. Step 3: Navigate and search for your system UI. For Samsung, it’s One UI Home and it can be different for your phone. Tap on it.  Step 4: Now tap on Storage.  Step 5: Here, tap on ‘Clear cache’.  Repeat Steps 3-5 for Google Play Services, Google Play Store, and Google app. After that restart your phone. 

Reset App Preferences 

Resetting the app preferences will take back all the granted permissions to the apps and will restore them to defaults. Doing this can fix system UI not responding error on your phone. Here is how you can do it:  Step 1: Go to Settings.  Step 2: Tap on Apps. Step 3: Tap on the three-dots icon at the top-right corner.  Step 4: Here, tap on ‘Reset app preferences’.  That’s it! Now just restart your device. 

Boot in Safe Mode 

Starting your smartphone in safe mode disables all of the third-party apps temporarily. By doing so, you can find if there is a faulty app that is causing this issue and uninstall it. Here is how you can boot your phone in safe mode: 

Press and hold the Power button. Now tap and hold the Power off icon. You will now get a message to boot into safe mode. Tap on it

That’s it! Your device will now boot in safe mode. You can now eliminate any problematic apps causing any issue. 

Perform a Factory Reset

This is the last resort that you can try if none of the above methods fail to stop the System UI not responding issue for you. Performing a factory reset will erase all of your data so make sure to take the backup before you do it.  Step 1: Go to the Settings.  Step 2: Go to General Management. Now, this might be different for your smartphone, so you can just simply search “reset”.  Step 3: In the Reset menu, tap on ‘Factory data reset’.  That’s it and just complete the process.
